Walk the high wire for me

5 of the songs were written during the summer of 2006 and 4 were written sometime in the past and the Human Race was writtten the night before it was recorded. The arrangements and preproduction took place between October and December 2005 and the album was recorded and mixed in 20 days between January and March 2006.

Born and educated in England, but currently based in Spain he has been writing songs, singing in the shower and to the bathroom mirror for many years.

With the encouragement of Johnny Branchizio some of the songs were recorded and so his first album "Walk the high wire for me" was born. The result is a journey through his influences: Blues, rhythm and blues, soul all with touches of jazz and recorded using as pure a sound as possible.

Production, Arrangments & Guitars

Born and educated in Italy, he moved to the USA in 1993 where he gained valuable experience playing in clubs and touring with artist such as Sheila King. In 1994 he moved to Spain where he has collaborated with artists of many different musical genres such as Carmen Garcia, Boney M, Kati Autrey, Memory of the Blues and Amparanoia. His group Johnny Branchizio Group, has played at a number of international and national music festivals and is currently recording an album.

Pere is "Grabaciones de Mentira" and like all great sound engineers he is an experienced musician and must take credit for many good ideas and solutions he gave us during the recording of the album.


David's musical career started in Granada Spain in 1989, where he played in rock, salsa and Brazilian music. He moved to Barcelona in 1993, playing in various jazz groups. He has played on more than 30 albums which have covered many different musical styles including jazz, blues, rumba Catalan, new flamenco, Latin jazz, sound tracks… and has accompanied different musicians including Chano Domínguez, Peter King, Bruce Barth, Miguel Poveda, Luis Salinas… recently he has toured with David Bisbal and Manuel Carrasco. Currently he is is teaching at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) and playing with the Gary Willis trio, The Funklab and Memory of the blues.

JORDI FIOL : Bass guitar

Jordi began his musical in year 87 after graduating from "Aula de Música Moderna y Jazz" and later the Manhattan Music School.. During the following years he has played with a long list of groups playing many varing styles of music which include the african music group Sora and the rai artist Chab Samirsuch, the French flamenco group "Al Andalou, funk, jazz , latin y blues with Kitflus, Max Sunyer y Amadeu Casas (en el grupo "More Strings"), the big bands Avinyó and Cotton Club" and played with Jordi Bonell, Victor Ammann, Roger Blàvia, David Lenker, Jim Leff, David Xirgu, Ximo Tébar, el vibrafonista Geny Barry y el saxofonista Toni Solà with the group "The Funk Players Reunion", and with the singer Anna Luna ....

Jordi has also collaborated in a number of musical productions which include the musical "Petit Musical" with Ramón Escalé and with Carles Flaviá in the musical Gatísimo en el 2003. Since 1998, Jordi has been playing with The Platería with whom he has recorded several CD's which include Gatísimo(2002). He has recently recorded with Laietana Big Band (CD Selva 2004) and Layetana jazz project, in 2005.


Abel Boquera, regularly plays in Harlem Jazz Club, the London Bar, Jamboree and the Jazz club. Currently, participates in various projects which range from hard rock, blues, jazz, reggae, bossanova etc. His own band "El profesor bacterio" and is a member of the Standard Soul Band

He has participated with Quim Vila, singer song writer and winner of the Sona9 competition , and has participated in the recording of his CD's "Verbaquim 700", Picap 2003 and "Fent amics", which were recorded and produced by Marc Parrot.

Cidon was born in Brazil where he studied percussion at the "Universitat de Sao Paulo". He has toured South America and the USA extensively with the percussion group PIAP and played with a many different musicians amongst whom are Paulinho Nogueira (one of the originators of the bosa nova) and Paulinho Boca i Arrigo Bernabé. In 1987 he moved to Madrid where he played with Henrique Urquijo and then to Catalonia where he has played with Euclydes Mattos, Junco i Dr.Calypso. Currently, he is playing with Josep Soto & Companys i Pablo Fernéndez Grupo and teaching.

KENA TOLEDO: Background Vocals

Born in Chile where she graduated from the Facultad de Artes de la Universidad de Chile in Teacher of Vocal interpretation . Moved to Barcelona in the 1990's where she has taught and collaborated with a long list of well known musicians both in live performances, in the studio and radio and television.

Kena recorded her first CD with her group Kena up called "Inside” en el 2004. The album has a clear funky influence with delicate touches of jazz. The group has toured in Spain, Portugal and France.


Juan Pau is one of the leading exponents in Spain of the diatonic harmonica which he loves to push to the limits exploring its possibilities in different musical context. He has published 7 CD's. His versatility, has allowed him to work with with a diverse range of artists such as the singer-songwriters Quico Pi de la Serra, the jazz singer Lotti Lewis and the bolero singer Montxo. he colaborated with blue grass and country groups such as Wild Turkey, Sam Lardner, Río Seco and with the gipsy swing group Les deux guitarres.

In the last few years he has accompanied the popular blues singer Big Mama and currently he is leading the blues-fusión group Mr.Hurricane Band, playing duos with guitarist Miguel Talavera and the pianist Lluís Coloma and playing in the principal Blues and Jazz festivals in Spain and Francia (París, Conyac, Chaumont, Prat Bon Repaux..). Also, he is working as a session musician in radio and television and teaching harmonica.


The Jaume Vilaseca is the leader of the Jaume Vilaseca Quartet which is composed of some of the most outstanding figures of the Barcelona jazz scene. They have released 3 albums Fotografies (Dindi Records, 1999), Aquí i allà (Discmedi, 2002) and World Songs (Discmedi 2005). They have toured internationally in the middle east, South America and in Spanish jazz festivals sharing at the billing with such artists as Jorge Pardo Trio, the Anna Luna Quartet and La Vella Dixieland.


Born in 1990 Gilbert started studying the cello at 5 years of age with Ana Toca at Escuela de Música de Capellades and has studied master classes Lito Iglesias, Lluís Claret, Carey B. Hockett, Eulàlia Subirà, Leonid Gorokov,… Currently he is studying with Iñaki Etxepare and playing with various musical groups and chamber orchestras. In 2005 he won the Concurso L'Arjau (Barcelona) for young Cellists.


Born in Barcelona 1991, Patricia is member of the trio
Jóvenes de Vilanova violin,cello y piano. She also belonged to the orchestra Germinans and has participated in a CD of modern music-





Dani is currently leader of the Dani Alonso Super Combo which plays a very varied assortment of music which includes swing fused with the rhythms of Soul, Gospel, Reggae, Blues, Funky, Boleros.

The Dani Alonso Super Combo is currently recording their first CD, Think Pink, which will include some of the groups most popular songs.


Studied in the Instituto Superior de Arte de la Havana (I.S.A) where he played with Cuban groups such as Barnhabana some of whose member formed part of the "Buena Vista social club" and has played with groups such as Barcelona Jazz orchestra, Tony Manero, Manu Chao, Amparanoia, Vella Dixieland, Jubilee Jazz Orchestra, Black and White Gospel Singers, Misrili Ahmed etc. Currently he is working with La Carrau.
